What to Expect

  • We’ll briefly connect and set a specific intention for your session—this helps guide the energy and focus your experience.

    I don’t go over medical history, as that’s something to be discussed with your doctor or care providers. Reiki is not used to diagnose, treat, or replace medical or psychological care.

    I may ask a few simple questions about what you’re experiencing or what you’d like support with, and I’ll explain how the session works so you feel comfortable and know what to expect.

    Everything you share is kept private.

  • Getting Settled
    You’ll lie down or sit comfortably in a quiet space. Once you’re ready, you can close your eyes and begin to relax.

    Guided Meditation
    I’ll guide you through a short meditation with music playing to help you relax and enter a receptive state.

    Depending on the type of session, the meditation may vary, but the intention is always the same—to help you settle in and open to receiving.

    Reiki Begins
    Once the meditation ends and I stop speaking, the Reiki will begin to flow.

    I’ll gently place my hands on or just above the body. The session is calm and nondirective—there’s nothing you need to do except relax and receive.

    Sensations & Feelings You May Experience

    Everyone’s experience is different, but you may notice:

    • Warmth or gentle heat

    • Tingling, pulsing, or light buzzing

    • A heavy, relaxed, or floating feeling

    • Subtle energy moving through the body

    • Changes in breathing (slower, deeper, or occasional sighs)

    • Temporary shifts in pain or tension (increase, decrease, or movement)

    • Deep relaxation or sleepiness

    • A sense of calm, peace, or relief

    • Feeling lighter or more open

    • Emotions gently rising and releasing (such as sadness, joy, or anger)

    • A quiet or still mind

    • Less mental chatter or overthinking

    • New thoughts, clarity, or insight

    • Feeling present, grounded, or centered

    • Seeing colors, light, or subtle imagery (with eyes closed)

    • A sense of connection or inner awareness

    Closing the Session
    When the session is complete, I’ll gently guide you back and give you a moment to reorient.

    We’ll take a few minutes to check in and talk about anything you experienced or noticed.

  • Most people feel relaxed, calm, and more balanced after a Reiki session. You may also notice a sense of clarity, emotional release, or subtle shifts in how your body feels over the next day or two.

    Reiki continues working even after the session ends, so changes can unfold gradually.

    Aftercare

    To support your experience:

    • Drink plenty of water

    • Rest if your body feels tired

    • Take it easy for the rest of the day if possible

    • Spend a few quiet moments noticing how you feel

    • Journal anything that came up during your session

    Healing Response (Sometimes Called a “Healing Crisis”)

    In some cases, people may experience a temporary detox-like response as the body processes and releases stored tension or energy.

    This can look like:

    • Feeling more tired than usual

    • Mild headaches

    • Emotional release or heightened sensitivity

    • Temporary increase in symptoms before they improve

    This is usually short-lived and passes within 24–48 hours.
